Yone’s second hike

19 05 2017

One of the disadvantages of Dácil’s poor mobility is the fact that we can’t do any family hikes. And we sure love to hike, especially living on an island where paths are plenty and beautiful and the weather is inviting all year round. But alas… You just can’t have it all… So we have to plan short hikes, in the vecinity of our home. Start early, right after they pick up Dácil for school, and make sure we’re home by the time she gets back.

We picked the 3rd of May, the day of the cross. A bank holiday in Los Realejos, where Yone goes to school, so he had his day off, but not in La Orotava, where Dácil goes to school, so she was picked up by her bus as usual, at half past 8.

We walked to the bus stop, not a cloud in the sky, took the 101 to Santa Úrsula, where we got off and walked past the house where “Project Lazarus” (or Realive as they later called it) was partly shot – the movie Yone had a small part in. From this house, there is a steep coastal path that descends to sea level and follows the coast towards the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz leading to the Botanical Garden. A beautiful day, stunning views, delicious smoothy at the end and a refreshing dive in the pool back home. (We had taken towels and bathing suits but we didn’t go down to the beach for fear of not getting back home in time for Dácil).

All in all a great way to spend the morning!

Waiting for Yone to finish his procession with the band, we watched them pass. Dácil was having a great time too!
